Behind Flores Arts & Antiques

Founded by Ferdinand Flores, Flores Arts and Antiques began as a personal journey of discovery—transforming a lifelong passion for historical preservation and rare artifacts into a dedicated sanctuary for collectors. Decades ago, what started when Flores left his hometown to work at a New York antique store evolved into a masterclass in the trade, spending years learning the intricacies of examining, buying, and selling rare wares.

Driven by that hard-earned expertise and an enduring reverence for craftsmanship, the gallery bridges past eras and modern spaces. Today, it stands as a trusted destination where discerning clients can find meticulously hand-selected pieces, each carrying its own distinct character, provenance, and historical weight.

“I started buying pieces for myself,” recalls Flores. “I fell in love with what I was doing and thought it would be a good thing to be independent and be my own boss.”

Now in his mid 60s, Flores is known as one of New York City’s “dependable” fixtures in the antique wholesale business, providing over 200 serious collectors and dealers from around the U.S. and elsewhere thousands of antique items – from ancient pottery (3500 BC) to present-day porcelain decorative art (20th century).

His stores, specializing in Oriental, European, African and tribal art, have been patronized by some of the biggest names in New York’s high society, foreign diplomats and Wall Street big shots.

“Andy Warhol was a client,” he boasts. “He would quietly walk in and look around.”

Flores also has a handful of loyal Filipino clients, among them fashion entrepreneur Josie Natori and socialite and former actress Marya Coburn.

With his acknowledged expertise, even collectors and dealers in the Philippines look up to him and value what he has to say.
